Translate the Homepage with Language Native Translate

When you own a Shopify store, at some point you’ll focus on not only the local customers but also the overseas ones. Then, you’ll be interested in the website localization by making it multilingual to adapt the content on your website to the target market. If your store is working in different languages, this helps you to better attract more visitors and then expand your potential customers worldwide.

At the present, there are some tools for you to translate your website by automatic translation and we all realize that it does not work correctly on the whole website. There will be some words or phrases untranslated. Fortunately, we are here to give a better solution for this by introducing our translate app - Language Native Translate. We offer both smart machine and human translations and along with support.

In this article, you’ll be shown how to use Language Native Translate to translate the Homepage on your website.

So first, we’re going to take a look at some information that need you to know before using the app.

I. Basic information

Depending on the Theme you use for your store, the structure of the Homepage can be set up from the settings of the components (Shopify objects) as follows:

  1. Theme Settings

  2. Shopify Sections include Dynamic Section & Static Sections (Header, Footer, Menu..)

  3. Links / Navigation

  4. Blog Article (If your Hompage contains this section)

  5. Pages (If your Hompage contains this section)

  6. Metafields (If your Theme contains the section from the metafields)

II. Get started

You can find the translated content of the Homepage in each translation tab as follows:

Open the app > Translation > Manual Translate

1. ONLINE STORE THEME

This is the main translation on the whole page that can include the entire Theme Settings & Shopify Sections content. You can also use the Group filter function to filter content by groups. More importantly, you can take advantage of this function to determine the exact location to translate by searching with keywords.

2. LINK

This is the translation for the links used in your website that are created in the Navigation section. It can be used to create links at Header & Footer

3. ONLINE STORE PAGE

This is the translation for the contents on other pages throughout your website. In case your Homepage links to these contents, please make sure that you don’t miss any content on these pages.

Similarly, you can find the precise content of the page you need by searching with its exact page ID.

Eg: the page ID is a series of numbers at the end of the URL of a specific page on your admin.

Also, you can use a Shortcut right from the page you want to translate

4. ONLINE STORE BLOG & ONLINE STORE ARTICLE

This is the translation for the blog posts’ content on your website. In case your homepage links to the content, please make sure that you don’t miss any content on these pages.

Similarly, you can also search for the right content that needs translating with Blog & Article ID

5. METAFIELDS

This is an advanced custom translation. When translating, you need to be aware of the structure of the metafields.

III. Requirements

Not all of the content of your theme can be translated if the theme doesn't meet the following requirements:

1. Types of content

There are three basic types of content that you might want to translate:

  • Plain text

  • HTML

  • Liquid

If the settings are different from those above, you can not translate the content on your website. Therefore, if you have problems with translating content for different purposes such as:

  • Customize the font size, font name for each language

  • Customize the slide image settings.

Then make sure that your theme settings will be changed into one of the 3 types mentioned above. If you don’t know how to do it, please contact the theme developer to customize it for you.
