You can change the data in the export files but there are some rules you must follow to avoid errors during the import process.

There are 10 resources that can be exported: Shop, Collections, Smart Collections Products, Product Variants, Customers, Orders, Draft Orders, Pages and Posts. Some of them have specific features that you may input data in a wrong way.
Column title
- id: Item's ID which is defined by Shopify system. All ID(s) are different.
- handle: The item's name is written in non-capital letters, all blank spaces replaced by hyphens.
- Metafields data defined:
- (1) Name space
- (2) Key
- (3) Value Type: When you input the values for the metafields, notice the value type to make it right.
1 - Collections, Smart Collections, Products, Customers, Orders, Draft Orders and Pages.
They all have an export basic form which includes data of id, handle and metafields.
- Using handle field to determine items.
- When you import data from another store, the handle of items must be exactly the same. System will automatically skip all unavailable handles.
2 - Customers, Order, Draft Orders.
They are slightly different from the resources above.
- Using email and name field to determine files data in the store.
- System will automatically skip all data that don't match both fields.

3 - Product Variants and Posts
These two are special.
Product Variants are sub-content for the Products. Which means you have to match both title and prodHandle field to get your data successfully uploaded. System will automatically skip all data that don't match both fields.
- title: Variant's title. Inputting the values exactly for all letters (lowercase and uppercase differences compared).
- prodHandle: The item's name is written in non-capital letters, all blank spaces replaced by hyphens.
Posts are sub-content for the Blogs. Which means you have to match both blogHandle and handle to get your data successfully uploaded. System will automatically skip all data that don't match both fields.
- blogHandle: Blog's title. All letters write in non-capital form.
- handle: Post's title is written in non-capital letters, all blank spaces replaced by hyphens.
4 - Shop
Shop's export file enumerates the metafields' id, namespace, key, value and valueType in the vertical direction. System will automatically create new metafields for unavailable data when you import.
